Heart Rate Monitor that works with iPad for Zwift

Hi,
My Garmin Dual Heart Rate Monitor doesn’t link to Zwift. I use an iPad which I always keep updated.
The HRM is ultra reliable linking to my Garmin 530, giving instant read outs and accuracy, so it is not an issue with the HRM itself I believe.
The iPad links quickly with my Wattbike Atom and Zwift itself works very well … just not able to get the HRM working.
I have searched the Zwift forum and this seems to be a real recurring problem for many. Unfortunately, there seems to be no particular solution - just a generic problem with the Bluetooth/ Ant +.
I need a solution as I am going to be doing a few of the team TT events so it will be obligatory to link and display heart rate.
My question is whether buying a Wahoo Tickr Gen 2 HRM would sort this? Does anyone else use this HRM with the iPad and Zwift? Does this HRM link well?
They’re available for about £39 so not a huge expense. Just want to check it out before ordering !
As ever, many thanks in advance for any help!

    Thanks johngti.
I’ve been in contact with a friend who has a Tickr and am going to borrow it later and trial. I’ll report back! BW.

Does the Garmin HRM connect to the iPad when nothing else is connected via Bluetooth? If it does then you have probably run out of Bluetooth connections on the iPad. Devices have limits on how many Bluetooth connections you can have at once due to how it works.

    Hi Wongataa,
Good shout on this. But no it won’t allow me to connect it at all even when nothing else is linked. Have tried switching the Bluetooth on and off etc to no avail. It will connect to other equipment such as my Bose Sound Sport headphones so the Bluetooth is functioning….
  • Quick update. Borrowed a friends Wahoo Tickr and this linked pretty instantly to the iPad. I then set up for a Zwift ride using my Wattbike Atom and was able to keep the connection to the Tickr HRM too. Effectively two Bluetooth connections. Result was Zwift displaying my heart rate throughout.
I’m going to try an older Garmin HRM and see if that might link. If no success I’ll purchase a Tickr. Price is not too bad at £39 and I’ll use for all turbo work.
