On days like this the teams should all just nominate one rider for the breakaway each (minimum 1 hour down on GC) and let them go.

Now it will go with a really strong group and the bunch will implode on this next climb

Hadn’t realise how bad Boulting and Millar have become at rider recognition.
    Awful

I’ve said for several years and included uci and aso in tweets, as well as Carlton, that all the riders with the number 1 should wear a blue helmet, 2 a green one, 3 a pink etc. It would make the identification of riders to us, the commentators the ds’s and Uncle Tom cobbley and all much easier imho. Carlton even discussed one year and agreed with me but the sponsors would kick up a fuss. Personally I’d think it would help the sponsors as rider x will be identified with the product(s) rather than the team. Would also work on the track too

    A lot of desperate Frenchmen

Despite what Millar says, Bouhanni isn't alone. Bol and Jansen are also with him. The cut off is pretty generous today. I think ITV are wrong on the time cut (using Velofacts)

Not sounding good for him. 17 minutes down and on his own.

See above post. He's not alone and the time limit is likely to be around 45 minutes

    Some good resources
Live GPS data which tells you where all the riders are: https://racecenter.letour.fr/en/riders/14

    Velofacts time limit calculator: https://www.velofacts.com/cx-laps/tour-de-france-2021-time-limit-calculator.html

A word to the wise about the GPS - it sometimes disappears for a rider (bike changes?), hence rumours Mørkøv had dropped off the other day.

It's a really handy tool though, especially if you're interested in someone who the commentators aren't.

ITV said OTL was around 31 minutes. 45 seems a lot but from that calculation table it’s close.

Michael Woods needs to go to the same descending school as Pinot.

Get back from the garden centre and Woods is descending worse than me.

Still the roads are crap around here.

You get 31 minutes from Velofacts' calculator if you expect the stage to take 5 hours 15, which is 35kph. Seems unlikely from here.

Does it fall foul of the Scunthorpe problem though? Apparently not...

The biggest surprise for me is that nobody has seen fit to chase G Martin.
He's going to slip into second unchallenged.
