tow bar for thule carrier

Hi all

Looking for a tow bar suitable for a basic thule carrier on my VW T5 van. I have found 2 on ebay - one flange type from pfjones and another swan type by another company, both around 100. Both fixed.

This will be mostly for a carrier but wondering which connection type would be best? Can't imagine for any more than 2 bikes

    I don't think what type of tow bar matters as long as it has a standard towball.

    We have a removable towbar on one car and a more conventional one on a van. Both work with our pfjones carrier.

    thanks - i went for a swan neck bar which seems good enough. Also tried out the thule 970 bike rack and I'm impressed considering it's price. My only gripe is that the width of the rack bars are slightly too wide to rest my Cannondale supersix's top tube on, so Im having to strap it down at the back using the seat stay/seat tube corner instead

    Cant see a way of adjusting these arms so I will put up with it
