negatron my dear friend.ibr17xvii said:MattFalle said:Negatron IBR - all we did was discuss price, like you would in a pub.
no one is putting anyone off - the first thing you are obviously going to do is Google how much something is new: you did on this saddle.
All MF did was suggest he lower his price so that he'll actually sell the thing not just be stuck with it.
I don't believe you meant to put folk off but by "discussing" the price you will IMO.
if they are interested in the saddle they will look at prices for the same on the 'bay, wiggle, etc and then make an informed decisons.
no one is going to pay full retail for it or nigh on for a used saddle.
if they want it they'll bung him an offer by pm.
discussion about prices does not negate purchase decisions - how many times have we sat here and gone "how much!!!!" and someone has still spaffed £10k on a plastic Specialised with a Japanese groupset.
Discussion is healthy, sycophancy and blind obeduence is not.
Full retail is £200, he was asking for £125.
I get what you're saying but the by the same token he's entitled to ask what he wants for it.
TBH if I wanted this specific saddle I'd probably give him that for it. The fact you got one for £40 (presumably on eBay) would maybe make me look around a wee bit harder to see if that was the going rate but it wouldn't put me off buying this.
That's my point - the price discussion wouldn't put me off personally but it might others which I don't think is fair.1 -
but we're agreeing with each other so i agree.
mine wasn't off eBay though, off a bloke.
.The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Getting it off a bloke probably isn't a fair reflection of the market though & TBH if I was the OP I'd plump for the shop credit rather than take a £75 (or more) hit.
Either way OP seems to have withdrawn the sale so it is what it is.0 -
but isn't getting it off a bloke exactly what someone would be doing on here?
bloke sees advert for saddle.
bloke contacts bloke
price agreed
bloke buys saddle
exactly agree with your second point but he doesn't want that which we (and others above) agree is a bit silly.
also agree with with your third point.

Yeah I guess you could look at it like that.
If the saddle is in decent nick etc etc £40 is still ridiculously cheap mind you.0 -
Its what 2nd hand saddles go for - The Selle San Marco superlight jobbie I have on the Prince, RRP of £299 or something stupid, as new, I also paid £40.
Ariones, etc, as new are about £20 - I sold my brand new Arione off the S3 (removed before the bike even came out of the box) for £40.
Theres a sweet spot for this stuff..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.
