Anyone know what's happened? Rode stage 1 of Romandie and pulled out. Seems to be training in the UK and no races? Shame as he seems like a really top bloke.

I'm in a group chat with him to arrange training rides with some of the other local hitters (let's just say I'm a legacy member of the chat) and he seems a decent sort of guy. No idea what's happened and as I've not been riding due to sorting a house move won't see anyone to ask.

It just means they're the local fast riders. I think you're being deliberately obtuse.
  • MattFalleMattFalle Posts: 11,644
oh - so the local clubbies then?

no, not obtuse. I've just never heard the term outside of baseball.

Can confirm HT is a jolly decent sort of chap .
I am a very average rider , last summer this guy decked out in AG2R kit , which was a bit odd on the country roads of North Yorkshire, passed me , I pushed on to get on his wheel and it was HT.
He rode with me into Helmsley never pushing to hard , we had a good craic , covering topics such as Pro riding , training etc.
He is doing some big rides so must be due a race soon.
    regards

If you follow him on social media & Strava does seem like a decent guy.

Remember when he was doing the Tour Series & in interviews always came across well.

He had signed for Ribble Weldtite if I remember correctly & then was picked up pretty late by his current World Tour team which did seem a bit of a strange one especially how it has turned out, looking from the outside in anyway.

It’s nice to know everyone on here thinks he is a good guy,
I have my doubts about some of his results , I have no evidence, it’s just a feeling .🙁

He won a stage of the Tour de Yorkshire and he’s not bad on the track.
Really Mathew you need to put a bit more effort in to your cycling research.

Bloke on internet has a 'gut feeling' about a cyclist based on absolutely nothing.

To be fair it was only a "feeling" not a full on "gut feeling"

I personally have no feelings, gut or otherwise, about this particular cyclist as I don't know him.

i did do a quick Google but he didn't actually seem very interesting or "a top bloke" at all so I didn't, for want of an alternative phrase, probe too far.

One of the guys in my club is in a race with Harry Tanfield's younger brother, Charlie, tomorrow.

He's a decent Cat 1 but I am sure he will get destroyed.

Matt Lawton has demanded that British Cycling launch an enquiry into whether Harry Tanfield is a Top Bloke after accusations from Matthew Falle. Dan Roan says that this is yet another dark day for the beleaguered federation, fresh from their controversial whitewashing of the 'Should Cavendish Retire' commission. The hearing will be covered by Sean Ingle who has clearly done something wrong at The Guardian.
