Repairing a helmet pad - fabric glue or needle and thread?

Afternoon chaps,

the main pad for my super bargain £60 Scott Cadence helmet has started spitting open on one edge.
As new pads are £20, I want to either glue it or stitch it but was unsure which would be the best method, or less likely to cause irritation.

Would also need to be able to resist sweat and be able to be washed without coming apart.

Probably best sewing carefully and buying a new set of pads whilst you can.
Too many bikes according to Mrs O.

I've used needle and thread and it was OK. But as Oxoman said, get those pads before they get discontinued - I have a helmet I like I can't get the pads for any more, and the ones there are beyond repair - there's more thread in them than pads...
