in Road buying advice
2009 Cervelo R3SL Dura-Ace 7800 excellent condition. Only 3000 miles on it. Bought for 6,800, the seller is asking 2,400

    Nope, not even close, in any currency. USD or Pounds or Euro or what?

    Wheels look like base model cheap ones in that pic.

    For comparison, I bought a 2009 Cervelo RS frame in mint condition for just under 150 USD. That’s essentially the same as the R3 but with a taller head tube. A bit of careful shopping around and I have DA 7800 brakes and derailleurs, Ultegra shifters, carbon FSA cranks with Q rings, some very light wheels and all carbon finishing kit for stem/bars/saddle/post and spent less than another 600 USD all up.

    You could build that bike above for a grand, easy these days. 10 speed, rim brake, non aero means nobody wants them much any more so they’re cheap as chips. Parts aren’t easy to get either - if those shifters fail you’ll struggle to replace them.

    Nice bike though, just not worth much despite what it cost new.

    To be buzzkillington, can I suggest that posters refrain from replying.

    It has always been against the rules to post "how much is this worth" mainly in an attempt to ward of thieves pricing up their stolen goods. Not least for the first post.

    it may be people asking what a bike is worth before buying it.

    after how many posts do we answer questions? 10? 100? 1000? People were moaning about new members not being included, now you are actively, 100% promoting exclusion.

    we need more positivity, less negativity.
