Running shorts instead of padded bibshorts?

There's no easy way to put this but I've put on a huge amount of weight and my downstairs appendage gets really uncomfortable during my Zwift rides. I was considering training in running shorts instead. Has anyone done this? Keen to hear others' experiences.

Try it and let us know. There are probably good reasons why nobody does this.
Ever sat down when wearing baggies and squeezed things? Last time I wore baggies. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Why not just buy the right kit - but in a more appropriate size?1

You could try. My suggestion would be a wider saddle or shorts with a wider pad0

Yeah you'll just trap your bits against the saddle as you pedal. Can you set the bike up more upright for a while?- Genesis Croix de Fer

I think (hope?) he means lycra running shorts instead of cycling lycra shorts so no pad.
if thats the case, depending on chafing action due to cut of short, why not?.The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Yes. the results are predictable.
And it was only because I forgot my bibs that day and didn't realise until I got to the gym. Tried to power through with the shorts I had in my bag.
Needless to say I've never forgotten to pack my bibs since.0 -
I actually meant normal running shorts. They are ok for the 1hr rides on the turbo i've done a few times. I do get a bit of a sore bum around the sit bone area but it's not TOO bad. Problem is I want to do longer sessions now so maybe it's time to just give in and buy the super XXL bib shorts I was avoiding buying.2010 Specialized Rockhopper
