Reminds me of a stage in Tour (last year or the one before?) where it took something like two thirds of the stage for things to settle down, at which point everyone was cooked.
It was due to the crash apparently. Wondering about Nibali now
My feed tells me Ewan was struggling to hang on, and had already indicated he was going to give up sometime today, and then came the crash, so his retiring came a couple of hours earlier.
PS. Ewan apparently got a 'knock on his right knee'. But unclear if that happened before the crash or in the crash. But supposedly he was in pain, and didn't want to carry on.
Evidently Ewan had been dropped, was held up by the crash in the tunnel which had happened ahead of him, and although not involved, having lost so much time due to the hold-up, and already not in the best condition, decided to call it a day.
Just in . What's the story so far? this break going to make it?

40km to go, break at 5”50, long descent into the final rise
Gavaria attacks out of the group on a flat section at 37km to go
Completely irrelevant but my nephew just messaged me that he had a bottle of this for his birthday.
Thanks to whoever pointed this out, now I can't stop noticing.
