Specialized future shok cover deterioration

Has anyone else with a Specialized, fitted with their future shok system had a problem with the fexible rubber cover failing.
My bike was bought new in Sept 2020 and now, just 8 months later the protective flexible rubber covering has split and shows signs of perishing.
Any comments regarding similar issues would be appreciated?

    I've now found out, it's called the 'boot', which covers and prevents water ingress to the future shock.
