Click / Creek from headset on braking
Hi there,
I've just bought a SuperSix Evo (2020) with very few miles on. When I brake and the weight shifts forward I get a fairly loud click sound from the headset. In fact when I transfer weight the crack/click seems to happen.
Can anyone help or advise on what might be causing this please?
Thanks,
Andy

Is there a forward and backward wobble with the brakes applied? If so, redo the stem and headset setup.================

All of the above.
Also, check your spacer above the stem is higher than the steerer. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -

joking apart, are you sure the crack isnt actually coming from the seat tube? whip out the seatpost, clean like you have ocd, refit with lots of carbon paste. ensure its tightened fully. i.e. tighten and then try and rock it about in the frame and then re tighten.
noises travel and the latest supersix is a dog for it.
see what happens then.1 -
Many thanks for the replies.

A friend came down today and had a listen while I was riding it and immediately said 'it's coming from the seat post or saddle'. I didn't believe him until we tightened up a few bolts and the seat post clamp and all cracking has gone!!
Chuffed to bits though would have put money on it coming from the headset!!!
Thanks,
