Cocktail shakers

Hi guys,
Presumably some of you make cocktails at home.
I have been for quite a while ,but have been having problems with my shakers.
I use cobblers as they work fine.
I was given a shaker as a wedding gift but I think it was made more for show than use as it is covered in a sort of darker film that keeps shedding and ending up in my drinks. It now looks terrible and the lid is too bit to be able to easily keep your finger on it whilst you shake - it's not great.
I asked for another for my birthday and received the M&S standard shaker but after one use and subsequent checks it's clear it leaks - which is quite a basic problem for a shaker, especially cobblers - they're a pain to open once you've used them but the trade off is they never leak.
So, does anyone have any decent shakers they can recommend? It seems a lot of the more premium ones are out of stock - presumably lockdown has made many more people go out and buy some.

Have you ever seen people make cocktails professionally? They hold the top with one hand and the bottom with the other whilst they shake.0

Yeah they tend to use Boston shakers but they require more skill to not spill everywhere and they're better if you're doing loads of cocktails fast.elbowloh said:Have you ever seen people make cocktails professionally? They hold the top with one hand and the bottom with the other whilst they shake.

I just use a dedicated water bottle for the job. Works perfectly well.
Probably not the answer you were looking for though. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -

Pro Cook do one for just over a tenner. Their other gear is spot on, so might be worth a punt?Ben

I just have a cheap & plain stainless steel cobbler that I picked up in a supermarket - can't remember which. It was around a fiver about 10 years ago and, while used fairly infrequently it still works fine.
Maybe the expensive cobblers are more style than substance. As you say the big boys use boston style ones.0 -
Unscrew the top? 🤔 It's a Camelbak Podium. A bit scuffed on the outside from use in a cage but otherwise clean and hygienic.rick_chasey said:Just wondered how you got the ice into a plastic bottle.

Also works as an ice filter when pouring. 😉The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Sainsbury’s glass and Steel shaker £10 ish. Don’t need anything fancy for a shaker. Never leaks, easy to clean. Sometimes have to help the rubber seal into place with a blunt knife but not a problem.Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0
