Setting up first full suss mtb

Hello there,
So iv finally decided to purchase my first full suss. Iv been researching on how to set the sus and the sag (30% on the rear and 25% on the front). So, iv read that i should introduce the same psi corresponding to my bodyweight. I weigh 205 lbs, but when i put 205 psi in the shock im getting around 45% to 50% sag. To get 30% sag im having to put 255psi (even with my riding gear i shouldnt weigh 255lbs) in my shock. Either im a few stone heavier than what my scales are saying, or my shock is knackered, or the guage on my pump is wrong. My suspension is 160mm on rear and 170mm up front (fox dpx2 and fox 36).
Please can someone help.
Thanks,
Sam

it depends on the leverage ratio of your bike.
What bike ? I knew someone with a Giant Reign who had 250 psi in a fox shock and he would be far less than 200lb0 -
Guides like setting it to bodyweight are just that: a guide. Trust the shock and set the pressure to get the right sag. Go for a ride and adjust accordingly if it doesn't feel right, you're bottoming out or aren't using enough of the travel.
It's good that you're spending time getting a setup dialled in initially, but it should only ever be treated as the starting point that gets you most of the way there. It's normal to then tweak it based on real life feedback.0 -
As others have said above, set the pressures to get the sag you want.
I have 3 bikes with suspension and the pressures are different in all of them even though I run the same sag.
