Hi,
i currently have an mtb with clark CMD mecahanical brakes, i took a fall and bent the rear brake lever i have priced a replacement lever at about £10 but for £20 i can get a hydraulic rear set (lever, caliper the and disc)
i have a few questions..
1, is it worth replacing the rear with hydraulic?
2. is it ok to keep the front mechanical as for some reason the front set cost £40?
3. are the clarks hydraulic brakes any good?
4. why is the front twice the price?
5. are the easy enough to fit or do i need to factor in fitting?
worth noting i don't want to spend a fortune as the bike cost me less then £100 but i am happy with it overall.
thanks

Others will answer your numbered questions. My point is aimed at the bent lever.
My grandson bent my shifter lever when he fell off my bike. The lever was easily straightened by looping a ring spanner over the lever and using the spanner's leverage to straighten the lever.
Take it steady and think about where the spanner is placed. Apply pressure and increase slowly. Don't give it a big hero heave.
Warning! This may not work, it may snap the lever, but what have you got to lose? It worked for me. If it works for you, that will be zero cost and the end of the questions that need answers.1 -
