No, usually only for clubbies on ultegra. Ooh, have you seen my new ring... takes 1.25s off of my 10. Etc.

Nah - they would hate it. They all reckon Ultegra is hand crafted by ex-Samurai, using skills developed honing their katana over decades.

Nothing is better than their Ultegra chainrings!

I'm just thinking light, strong, bling.

Bought a second hand TT bike that had carbon chainrings. Only lasted a season or two before a tooth broke off whist shifting. The Zipp carbon crank arm (non-drive side) bonding came loose and was effectively junk, so swapped the whole thing for a Rotor crank with alloy rings.

Send me £50 and I'll post an old ultegra one back to you. I'll be £50 up and you will avoid wasting 6 months.

If this type of chain ring was a good idea, you would see people use them other than on show bikes. Get some cobweb rings if you want something bling.

I tend to agree with that sentiment

I had a 55t one made for my TT bike as it was about half the price of the Dura Ace one.
It was great until I got careless and used it in training, shifting broke some of the teeth.
It was spot on for the purpose I wanted it for.

its a cery kind iffer but tbh i am stuck with an Ultegra crankset on the S3 and, tbh, its the worst part of the bike.

Ugly, heavy, rubbish made and when it comes to replacing the chain rings eye wateringly expensive for something that isn't very good.

Must get around to finding a suitable replacement one day.

Not going to argue with you there. They are interesting inside. But the problem is how often you get to see the inside of them.

    Agree complety, mec.

Problem is, S3 is BB30 so much wider b/b than normal so a pain to track down a cool crankset that won't cripple my sky.

I notices Specialities TA do Shimano rings on a browse through wiggle. Are they bling enough?

They were all the rage in the GB MTB world c. 2005...

Not really. They used to do nice anodised colours, but the ones I got for a strange FSA bolt pattern were just black chain rings. Very deep anodised layer though. They are just good products.

Telling you, KCNC cobwebs. Blue or red (or black) and you will be the envy of all of your friends.

ive got a 53t 110 BCD fybrelite chainring that I got to convert my Compact 110 BCD 50/34 powermeter to a 53/39 for time trialling
it is very good & light - ive not used it much as I got a std 53/39 SRM that I put on my Cervelo P5 instead
