If I were you I would wait to see if you can actually buy it any time soon, that it will be back compatible with your wheels and that they will be doing a rim brake version.

Very flippin' outrageously expensive is my bet.

OP probably wants to get in before the market is flooded with folk wanting to upgrade but I fear he's jumping the gun a wee bit.

Durianrider on YT (maybe not the most reliable of sources I concede) said he had a contact in Shimano who confirmed there would be a rim brake groupset.

Isn't Durian rider meant to be a bit of a nob? Stalker and the such like?

Think there was a thread on W/W about him.

Not too sure how much D/A di2 is going to flood the market though - especially at £1800 (!!!!) a pop.....

Just watch a few videos and decide for yourself. He isn't a *complete* tool, but there is essence of Topeak about him.

He's a bit Marmite. Personally I don't mind him so much.

I guess Hambini (with a different subject matter) is of the same ilk.

Mmm. A whole £100 off brand new. What'dya think?

It would leave me with only the mechs being ultegra... Mavic brakes (collector items) aftermarket KCNC crank because Shimano cranks dissolve, and second hand Dura ace shifters....

£100 is a £100 which is a nice saving, but the problem is second hand electronic shifters - if they jeff up you won't have any warranty back up and that's a very expensive paperweight as I presume you can't start stripping them down to repair.

its a bit caveat emptor tbh unless you know the dude - like all this stuff, it'll either work perfectly forever or die in 2 weeks.

Also, are they compatible with your mechs?

Tbh, I'd probably go new just for the peace of mind - when my new 8000 mechanical shifter broke it was quite nice just to be able to drop it off at the shop and pick up a new one and they are, what, half the price of di2?

    but thats just me.

It is mental at the moment...

Have just upgraded from 6000 series to 8000, and a bar end junction box, because my rear hanger broke and took both Di2 mechs and the back wheel with it.

I need new hoods on my ultegra shifters, and no one will persuade me that I would notice the difference to DA. I think my £300 is better spent as a contribution to some Winspace Hypers. Question is, 50mm or 38mm? Or alternatively a weekend away in Strontian in August. Decisions decisions.

little bit more expensive than brand new at bike24.de and then you'll need pads.

but yes, a very fair price indeed.

Sure? It's for a frame that is basically a year 2000 Moots Vamoots (I sent Kent Eriksen a wayback machine link to one of his old frames in 2015 and asked him to build me one...).

Traditional looking, round tubes, work of art....

....50mm seems to be only 80g heavier, but it sure is windy up here.

    Yeah, I reckon so.

Has potential to look well cool retro mod, especially with di2 bits

Any pics so we can see what we're playing with?

tbh, I've run 50s as winter wheels for years and not really found any problems with them in the wind - seem to be the best all round depth.
