Booked half a day as power on and off today and I don’t think my laptop will last the full day, also means I can use the workman’s cherry picker to repaint the plaque that is too high for me on the ladders.

Also going to have to paint the snug as we have a sequencing issue with the decorator and carpet fitter 🙄

Later is cider and maybe a run too

Got up early to WFH early so I could do stuff later but someone else has had other ideas. Several days now booked in the office.
Can't see much getting done today, work or otherwise :disappointed:

we have a plaque on the front of the house in Italy for my grand uncle (?) (grand father's brother) who died in the 2 WW. Its a bit weird but quite nice.

As for here, gym session done, now for protein shake and Katie Perry. Loud. And some boss dancing in the office.

Have a job interview this afternoon and don't have much inclination to do any prep.

    At Monte Casino?

My Great Uncle (gran's brother) died there. My nan never believed he died as they didn't find a body. I was in Italy a few years back and made a detour to the Commonwealth War Graves memorial at Monte Casino. I'd found his name earlier on the website so knew where to find his name, took photos and made up a frame with pics of the memorial, the his name and the views of the surrounding countryside to give to her.

Number 1 was a pain with feeding for months, we saw so many specialists and consultants, with them all giving us different advice. Rather not have to go through that again.

Not sure offhand tbh as per above we're traditionally Alpini so probably some random mountain somewhere.

MC is mad - its when you look at it and the carnage its shocking.

We were chatting about this the other day - now its 3 months PDT, 6 month tour, then it was "right, errrr, bags packed, I'll see you in a few years. Don't get bombed while I'm away".

    Different blimmin' breed.

I had an Italian girlfriend and did a few classes also. I understand more than I can speak, but have forgotten a lot.

I used to buy Gazzetta dello Sport every so often and try to work through it, but much like sports articles here it's full of metaphor and phrases that you wouldn't pick up on a course.

agree - reading the newspapers are great: current affairs is pretty simple to keep up with but sports are a nightmare to understand - as you say, its all metaphores, weird slang etc.

All this Italy chat reminds me that our house over there hasn't been opened in almost 5 months, the spiders will have taken over by now and maybe given squatters rights.

DIY later as well as a bit of fire wood chopping.

Maybe cow for dinner, not too sure.

    Friday Jackanory. #177(b)

Joe Valentine. Yorkshireman. Came in to the Oxford Nuffield aged 86 after standing on a chair to reach something and got a bit dizzy. New GP prescribed different pain killers.
Dragged himself upstairs to bed feeling a bit sore. Slept 12 hours and decided to call his daughter...

He had a smashed left hip but couldn't give him a replacement to the time delay and his age.

Joe had volunteered to get 7 men out of the base of the hill at Monte Casino. Drove in under fire and rescued the 7 men.
in the evening, they were heading out to celebrate but the Jock sergeant said 'not you'. Jock Sergeant never liked him. Joe lamped him unconscious, went out for a drink and was picked up by the MP and spent 2 weeks under arrest. So he never got his medal as a result.

I'm sitting in the railway station, got a (virtual on the phone e-)ticket to my destination... Off to my favourite Eye Hospital for routine 6 monthly check up. No nasty jabs in the eye today. Just monitoring status, look for no deterioration. I applaud the level of care and attention afforded over past 4 years 😳 now; once under their wing, they are on it.

There are 3 Spies that get captured. One spy is French, one is German and the other is Italian. Their captors come into the cell and grab the French spy and tie his hands behind a chair in the next room. They torture him for 2 hours before he answers all questions and gives up all of his secrets. The captors throw the French spy back into the cell and grab the German spy. They tie his hands behind the chair as well and torture him for 4 hours before he tells them what they want to know. They throw him back into the cell and grab the Italian spy. They tie his hands behind the chair and begin torturing. 4 hours go by and the spy isn't talking. Then 8 hours, then 16 and after 24 hours they give up and throw him back into the cell. The German and French spy are impressed and ask him how he managed to not talk. The Italian spy responds, " I wanted to!, but I couldn't move my hands!".
