Front hub and fork spacing

Hi

I have a new Suntour raidon with their 15x100mm q loc2 axle and a mavic crossride 15x100mm hubbed wheel.

I have measure the hub width at 100mm, so that seems OK.

The legs of the fork seem to be 107mm apart at the axle, leaving a 7mm gap between the fork and the hub. The axle doesn't seem to be able to contract enough when tightened to close this gap.

Any ideas? Is the fork just defective?

That's much closer to Boost spacing, which is 15x110mm (though having it 3mm too narrow would be a problem anyway). Are you sure you have the 15x100mm version? You could have been sent the wrong fork.
  • I was thinking the same. Way too big for 100, a bit too small for boost. Doesn't seem to fit with either standard. I'll have a chat to the supplier I guess.

    Cheers

Not something I have ever had to do, but worth a go anyway.

Examine the fork stanchions, they should be parallel. If they are wider at the top (ignoring the obvious flaring just before the seal housing), then the fork legs have been squashed inwards, implying a 110 boost fork. If they are wider at the bottom, it implies a standard 100 fork that has been levered outwards.
