Found a bike - advice on what else to do

As heading suggests I found a bike this morning propped against the front wall of my house. Whilst it’s not an expensive bike ( would be described as a BSO by many on here) it is brand new with no wear to any of the drive train or components.
So far I have done the following:
Spoken to my neighbours, none of whom recognise the bike.
Reported it to The Police on 101 and got a reference number They seemed a bit disinterested, so ‘m not holding out much hope from this source. Doesn’t bode well if one of my bikes got stolen, but that’s one for a separate thread!
Posted it on the found bikes section of this forum.
Any suggestions as to anything else I can do?

Make a "bike found" poster and put o a few lamp posts.0

Couple of notices in local shops/supermarkets that you find open..
The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Good ideas both, ta0

I think you've already done a lot more than some may have done, so kudos to you anyway, but a few signs/notices would be extra extra mile.0

Don't let anyone collect it unless they can say who lost it and why, and can describe the bike etc, etc.
My bet is that the bike was "borrowed" by someone to get home faster, then abandoned.0 -
If no one takes it, just sell it to Brundon Bianci for top dollar plus 50% - doesn't matter what size it is he'll buy any old overpriced thing and claim its perfect..

Need to put some Bianchi stickers on it and a £10k price tag first.MattFalle said:If no one takes it, just sell it to Brundon Bianci for top dollar plus 50% - doesn't matter what size it is he'll buy any old overpriced thing and claim its perfect.

Charge 15k and chuck in a 50 litre Karrimor rucksack so he can carry all his spares for his 2 hour, 14mph ride.MattFalle said:If no one takes it, just sell it to Brundon Bianci for top dollar plus 50% - doesn't matter what size it is he'll buy any old overpriced thing and claim its perfect.

I think the same, I.e. a quick way of getting home from the pub, apart from the obvious problem with this at the momentsteve_sordy said:Don't let anyone collect it unless they can say who lost it and why, and can describe the bike etc, etc.

I would take it down the local police station and leave it for them to sort.
You need to be careful and protect yourself. As cynical as this may sound, unfortunately we live in a world where as soon as you advertise you have found a bike there will always be someone who claims it is theirs when it isn't. So I would take it to the police and leave the responsibility of finding the rightful owner with them.0 -
Any local facebook groups? - They seem to to be stuffed full of people who know everyone's business1

Get a hoodie, puffa jacket, trackie bottoms and some trainers from sports direct and pedal around selling oregano to the local teenagers.
if anyone says that its their bike just stop, throw your arms open and start shouting "arrrrr you wanna go fam? you wanna go?"
then spend the money you make on blow n ho..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.
