MF says he likes your flooring - is it laminate or other?

  • That looks a pita to drop the stem on. Pretty though for a disk bike.

Looks like proper wood. We've just redone done our kitchen / diner with real wood.

Some of the planks look very short. Offcuts or recycled pallet?

It’s real oak floorings. That’s why the planks are different sizes.

I’m getting fitted to the bike and will drop the stem to what feels comfortable.

Ignore the haters about the spacers mate.

The overly large saddle bag however....😉

Looks fantastic- they've really nailed the integration at the front, very neat indeed.

if its proper wood then that's pukka. Its nice colour, I'll give him that. Breakfast bar is a bit small though.

Bike looks a bit sh*t with those flange things round the hubs but as you have pointed out nice kitchen floor.

Can't ypu move tbe saddle up and down and take out spacers ypurself to make it comfy instead of going for a "fit"?

After all, the only things on that you can do are raise/lower the saddle and change the number of spacers, so you can't go wrong really.

Just thinking of saving you time for I presume the "fit" will be free?

5 years ago I broke my back, this gives me all sorts of issues when I’m on long rides. So I was advised for a bike fit. I was fitted to my last bike and had no more pain from rides. So as this is a new bike I thought it wise to do the same.
There are so many variables when adjusting seat and stem hight etc. Especially if you’ve had an injury.

Looks like the kind of bike you have to cut the steerer to remove spacers. Once cut, spacers can't be added. Neat, elegant, but not adaptable.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

MF is presuming then that you can't even have spacers above the stem as a temporary measure to check for fit?

I am assuming that. Happy to be corrected.

Edit - Looks like you can. As long as you ride without the cover while sizing and cut when absolutely positively sure, then fit the cover. Measure twice, cut once, can't add.

If you've been fitted for the previous bike you just position the saddle and bars to same position relative to the bb that you had the old bike. It's nothing special and not hard.

  • Length of cardboard with a notch in the end, put the notch at the bars and rest horizontally to the saddle. 2and length if card with notch, put the notch in the gap between crank arm an bb, so it runs vertically and against the tip of the saddle. Staple the two lengths of card together, or tape them or glue or whatever, good idea to draw lines at the intersection just in case. Now transfer the template to the new bike and adjust a accordingly. If you are using a different saddle you might want to cross at the saddles anatomical point, where saddle width is 80mm, or something.

You hashtag blue peter and completely fail to mention sticky back plastic.

It's like you're not even trying.

Thank you everyone for all your help.

I’m going to get a bike fit done. After all it’s only a couple of hundred to do. My comfort and health is certainly worth that. Merry Christmas..
