Newbie question, got my first pair of cleats SPD SL, had previously bought these overshoes https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/s2100d-road-cycling-overshoes-black/_/R-p-X8396908?mc=8396908&c=BLACK - they don't fit but I'm now wondering is that cos I need to remove the cleats first and then screw back on? Or should I exchange them for different pair?

The overshoes should have a hole in the bottom, so the cleat is exposed.0

Maybe if you'd read the reviews on the Decathlon website it might have prompted you to look elsewhere. It seem the fit of these particular overshoes is questionable at best.
No you should not have to remove the cleats to get the shoes to fit properly.
If you are having problems I'd send them back if you can.
Maybe look at the dhb ones on Wiggle in the same price range0 -
Unfortunately I bought them on a whim and didn't read the reviews! Decathlon will exchange or refund no problem so I'll do that thanks.arlowood said:Maybe if you'd read the reviews on the Decathlon website it might have prompted you to look elsewhere. Just bare in mind, the Slipstreams do NOT have a pre-cut hole in them, so you need to cut them yourself. Not as bad as it sounds- put the sock over your shoes, and use a Stanley blade or sharp pair of scissors to make your own hole. The fact the sock is taught over your shoe/ cleat makes the cutting pretty easy.
Great oversocks. They're not waterproof of course, but I find a pair of decent merino socks and a pair of Belgian-style toe "covers", is good enough for me down to about 5 deg....1 -
Yeh the hole is a DIY effort, but the oversocks are marked so you know where to cut. Cut the hole as small as you can get away with, it will grow a little over time, but not much at all.
I've been using my current pair for years and they've had all sorts thrown at them. Good down to a few deg, IMO, just make sure you pair them with good socks.Ben

Wearing the windstopper toe thingies underneath was the game changer for me with the DeFeets.
I also massacred a pair of Velotoze booties to just have the toe covering for wetter days (before they started selling them like that as an option).
Nice to see the latest Slipstreams also have a bit more reinforcement around the heel...1
