Campag 10 speed cassette on Wahoo Kickr Core

Hi,

I've recently bought a Kickr Core and would like to use my road or TT bike on it, which are both Campag 10 speed. My winter bike is Shimano 11 speed so have been using that so far.

I have spotted this which seems to be a potentially better solution to my problem than buying the Wahoo Campag compatible freehub and another cassette: https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m8b0s150p2151/AMBROSIO-10-Speed-Shimano-spline-Campagnolo-spacing

If I want to swap between different bikes (with Shimano/Campag) then I can just change the cassette, rather than needing to change the freehub, so it seems a more convenient solution as well as a cheaper one.

Before I blow £60 on this cassette, is there any reason why this might not work?

Thanks!

That will work fine. It may need a 1.8mm spacer behind the cassette, depending on whether it is designed to fit Shimano 10 speed or 11 speed from bodies, but your Kickr Core may well have included this.

I run one of these cassettes on my turbo (Shimano freehub, Campagnolo 10sp bike) and it's fine.

I think you just need the 10/11sp spscer that should be on the freehub when new. If the cassette comes with a very thin spacer, also use that one.

  • Fantastic, thanks very much. The Kickr did indeed come with a spacer which I'd guess is for use with Shimano 10 speed cassettes so will use that if needed.
  • I hope this works. I just bought a Wahoo Kickr which comes with the 11-speed. My bike is a 10 speed so I bought a 10 Speed 105 cassette and will swap out the 11 speed and flog it (or keep for if/when I move to an 11 speed on that bike).
  • I installed the new 10-speed 105 5700 cassette onto my Kickr 2020:

Took five mins and worked perfectly. At the factory Wahoo do not torque the cassette they provide at anything like 40nm. I could almost remove with my fingers and the tool.
By the way, this is the tool to remove the Shimano cassette. Well made and works great:

    You'll need a chain-whip of course.
  • Hi @byronius_maximus did you manage to sort this out. I am having the same issues on the Wahoo Kickr Core. I try to install the 1.8mm spacer behind the 10s Ambrosio cassette but then the smallest gear doesnt actually engage onto the Wahoo freehub. I had to omit the spacer, but then it just all runs very poorly as chain runs off cassette and onto the front rings? Ah man - any help would be much appreciated. Going around in circles lol

Using 10v Ambrosio cassettes on 11v Shimano freehubs, I've never had any luck fitting the spacer. It's unsurprising that some gear tweaking is required, but if it's miles out then something odd is going on.
