Garmin 520 v Garmin 530

Hi

I have a cycle to work voucher and am think of upgrading mu Garmin 520 to a 530 but is it worth it? I like the idea of better route mapping as I am not very good with remembering routes. I would want to use it mainly in the UK and Spain.

Would like your thoughts and opinions.

Cheers

The 520 doesn't have proper navigation capabilities and very limited map storage. The 530 has full navigation capabilities and lots of storage space for maps. It comes with maps of all of Europe if bought in Europe.

I'd say that the 520 is very capable but I got the 530 as my 520 battery began to not hold charge for a full day. The 530 is a whole lot better. If the 530 does something that you want that your 520 cannot do then get it.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Don't want to be a party pooper but are you sure you can buy a Garmin with your Cycle to Work scheme?

Most schemes specifically exclude this e.g. Cyclescheme state

"The only cycle to work scheme exceptions are:

GPS ride trackers and navigation devices
    Turbo trainers or rollers
    Power meters
    etc."

If you can, lucky you, and get the 530, its much improved

Hi Super_devo, no I am not sure as it is my daughter getting them. The other thing on the list was a power meter, balls!

Thanks for the heads up I will check.
