You can use another Sora cassette, but one with a smaller range e.g. an 11-28 instead of 11-34. You can get an 11-25 range if you go for a "105" level cassette but they are more expensive than Sora.
With a smaller range, you lose some of your lower gears at the expense of smaller jumps between them.
The important thing is that you get a cassette with the same number of cogs (9, 10, 11 speed) and one that fits on your hub: you can use a Shimano cassette or one that will fit on a Shimano hub.2 -
thanks, the problem i'm having is that the Sora is 9 speed and Sora only offers the one rear cassette.thistle_(mbnw) said:You can use another Sora cassette, but one with a smaller range e.g. an 11-28 instead of 11-34. Here you go. Two options for you:
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/cassettes/1125-ventura-9-speed-cassette/
or
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/cassettes/1128-shimano-cshg400-9-speed-cassette/
or if you want super close ratios then a 14-25
https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-sora-hg50-9-speed-road-cassette/rp-prod387
You'll probably want a new chain to go with it of if your current one is new then you might want to shorten it by a link or two depending on your choice of replacement
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.
