Sram brake beed problem - help!

I have just built a new bike up with Sram Force ASX and have hit a brick wall bleeding the brakes. Followed the Sram instruction vid exactly, but when I first try and force fluid through the system from the syringe at the brake lever I can't get any fluid to come through to the caliper. It is behaving as if the bleeding edge port at the caliper isn't open, but it definitely is buy one turn as per the instructions. Not matter how much pressure I put on the syringe it is as if the whole system is blocked. Same on both brakes. I have the lever adjustment backed right off anticlockwise as per the instructions. Never had problems like this before with Shimano brakes. Any suggestions gratefully received!

    Try pushing fluid up from the bleed nipple using the syringe? If there is some blockage that should clear it. That’s how I always change the fluid in mine, easy way to ensure no air in the system too.
