It's Kirby. He hasn't said anything about it yet. Brian Smith is talking up the prospects of a break staying away.

    Edit: He's talking wind now.
  • Kirby now giving it his all. Not even hit KM0...
  • (sorry - if I'd known I had such power to spread disappointment and despair I'd have applied for a career with a b-list French cycling team)

Doesn't Cosnefroy realise that breakaways are so last year?
  • That bridge is an amazing thing.
  • That bridge really is magnificent.
  • A few more sacrificial lambs who forgot to avoid the DS at breakfast are shoved out the front...

    Break is Cosnefroy and Schar.

Well, you reap what you sew and leaving Cousin dangling the other day has obviously made folks wary.
Schär has now figured out it's a waste of time.

Cosnefroy learning the hard way about cooperation.

Schar has given up. Cosnefroy just trying to get the mountain points.

Bora really driving the group, train on the front there. Getting Sagan to the intermediate?

    Bora haven't read the script.
  • Bora now dumping the sprinters right from the start.
Not sure if that's a viable tactic or not.

  • Riders falling off the back already.
  • tbf wind or no wind, this stage might well be quite interesting. Fun start at least.

Maybe not viable but quite exciting to see them try.

Bad luck for Cosnefroy if he gets caught before the top... 400m to go and a generous 5 seconds

It's hilly all the way to the intermediate sprint, Bennet already dropped
  • Bora having a bit of fun there
  • Bit of a brutal start there, 5 splits already?
  • Echelons at the wrong end of the stage.
    Meh

At least the green jersey is a bit of a competition this year, rather than the Peter Sagan Benefit Jersey.

Or, at least it has been, because Sagan will probably take it for good at this rate.
