Split seat post

Hi all,
I appear to have a split seat post....
As it is only a month old I am contacting the shop to seek a replacement (I always used a torque wrench to tighten). Meanwhile I have an alloy post of the same size spare - is it ok to use an alloy post in a carbon frame?

Yes it fine to use aluminium seatposts in carbon frames.1

@wongataa - thanks for the reply - I assume with some carbon paste still rather than any grease?0

using a torque wrench doesn't stop the tube being crushed.1

Yes, I have alu in carbon frame..but see my slipping issues a few posts down, although I have a plastic sleeve and integrated clamp so ymmv.
Anyway, that's too bad re the split. I assume you used the correct torque? I'm always a bit fearful of carbon parts. How much post did you have showing? I wonder if you're at the high end that it could have put too much stress on the post at the clamp area.0 -
Thanks all - I was using the correct torque, and the split is mostly inside the seat tube.0
