Hi guys just a quick question, what's the difference between disc brakes and normal rim brakes, I'm waiting on a new bike and it has disc brakes which I've never had on a bike so just curious.
For one, their much better (especially for mountain biking) when riding through puddles and mud as they will initially stop quicker because they will have less moisture/grime on the braking surface than rim brakes.
Aside from disc,s being better at braking in the wet and clag than rim brakes they don't wear your rims out. A few different types of disc brakes though, hydraulic brakes are best followed by mechanical cable to hydraulic and finally just cable disc brakes.
