First Road bike around £800

Hey.
I've been looking at getting a bike on cycle to work for around £800. I would like something simple and effective to ride and a decent spec if possible.
For the money I seem to be hanging around the Triban 520 from decathlon, or the Boadman 8.8 disc.
I'm new to road biking but have had a number of mountain and hybrids in the past. I have also been wondering if its worth getting an adventure type bike, as some say they are a little more forgiving, and may suit better.
I want to make the right choice and wondered if anyone can help me.
Thank you very much.
Mike

If you're tempted by an adventure bike, keep an eye on the new Boardman ADV 8.9 (black and white frame, not the outgoing orange version) being released anytime at Halfords for £1000, so worth the extra £200.================

I'd definitely also recommend looking at the new Boardman ADV 8.9.
A friend has a Triban 520 and has fitted 35mm gravel tyres on it so it's capable of going doing some off road and adventure riding.0
