First Road bike around £800

Hey.

I've been looking at getting a bike on cycle to work for around £800. I would like something simple and effective to ride and a decent spec if possible.

For the money I seem to be hanging around the Triban 520 from decathlon, or the Boadman 8.8 disc.

I'm new to road biking but have had a number of mountain and hybrids in the past. I have also been wondering if its worth getting an adventure type bike, as some say they are a little more forgiving, and may suit better.

I want to make the right choice and wondered if anyone can help me.

Thank you very much.

Mike

  • If you're tempted by an adventure bike, keep an eye on the new Boardman ADV 8.9 (black and white frame, not the outgoing orange version) being released anytime at Halfords for £1000, so worth the extra £200.

I'd definitely also recommend looking at the new Boardman ADV 8.9.

A friend has a Triban 520 and has fitted 35mm gravel tyres on it so it's capable of going doing some off road and adventure riding.
