looking to minimally replace/upgrade drivetrain components on 2010 CAAD9. Options are limited according to ">Shimano archive but this site seems to indicate Shimano 105 5700 drivetrain is compatible with Tiagra parts. Anyone else experienced with this?

Which Tiagra do yo mean 4600 or 4700? You can use any 10 speed shimano cassette CS-4600 has been replaced with CS-HG500-10, or do you mean HG-50-9 speed?

Thanks DJ58. The Tiagra is 4600 I think, 9 speed. The shimano archive seems to indicate there's very limited compatibility up or down from Tiagra, but I know people have sometimes successfully used, for instance, 10 speed shifters with 11 speed drives. I'd like to avoid replacing the whole groupset if I can.

4600, 5700 and 6700 are all 10speed systems, the STI's and RD's are not compatible with 4700 10 speed, the cssette spacing is the same though, so if you are just replacing the cassette and chain CS-4600, CS-5700, CS-6700 and CS-HG500-10 will work.
