Having had A few goes on the trails over at Cannock me and my son are keen to do a lot more mountain biking.
We both have Triban bikes which will do us until we get more seriously into it.
but I’d like to kit us out with some appropriate clothing and maybe protection gear.
I know it doesn’t really matter what we look like and we just get out there but think it will actually help our confidence and make us commit to doing it if we can at least start to ‘look the part’
Having looked online it all seems really expensive can anyone point me in the direction of any decent value places to buy clothing?

Sports Direct, Muddy Fox brand is an ok price.0

The Decathlon range is surprisingly good considering its price point. I have a few pairs of shorts, base layers and some tops, the quality is good enough that I don't bother with more expensive stuff for MTB rides.0

Aldi do cycle clothing events now and again. Can get some decent quality gloves, cycling glasses, shorts, jackets etc. in the middle isle if you get there on the day it starts as stocks go quickly.
EBay is also worth a browse for cheap stuff too.
Decathlon as mentioned do a good range of MTB helmets too. I've had a Bt'win 500 for a couple of years which looks good, is comfortable and still good after lots of abuse.0 -
Get these for your padded undershorts then you can buy cheaper shorts and still have a comfy ride.

# Whatever tee shirts you buy, or long sleeve base layer, or jacket; make sure it says "wicking" otherwise the sweat will stay next to your skin.
# DO NOT WEAR COTTON
# When you come to buy a waterproof top, make sure it says "breathable" on it. Bin bags are waterproof, but you want the sweat vapour to be able to get out or it will be boil in the bag time.
# It will pay you to get a good windproof that has a DWR treatment (Durable Water Repellent). This garment will be a lot more breathable than a waterproof of the same price, yet will keep out most of the rain except torrential rain for a good while. Maintain the DWR coating and you will have little reason to regret purchase. It was years before I bought a proper waterproof and then I was very disappointed with it.0 -
Came here to suggest Decathlon stuff too...their running tees work okay as cycling tops too.0
