DHB Aeron Bib Shorts - Poor Back Ventilation & Wet Pads

I’ve had two pairs of the DHB Aeron bib shorts for about 6 weeks, but in the last week the pads have started to become wet during each ride.
After about 20 mins of casual cycling I can feel the sweat dripping from my back.
As you know the Summer weather has felt like November, so I can’t blame high temperatures. I can’t blame it on being a supreme athlete either, as I’ve only been a short rides recently.

Is it normal for the Aeron (or any) bib shorts to act like this?
It seem strange I didn’t experience the problem right from the start.
Would it be best to buy bib shorts with an “open back” instead of a mesh back?

I’m not sure if it matters, but this is the top I’m using.

The only thing I’ve not tried so far is to wear the bib shorts as shorts only, and not use straps.

Thank you for your words of wisdom.

If my pad is not wet, it means I've really taken it easy... it's normal

Thank you for help and reassurance.
Maybe I was hoping for miracles from the material's sweat wicking claims.

Over the years I bought many garments that claim to do miracles in that respect... none of them work... they are all better than wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, but you are going to be dripping in sweat, unless you take it easy enough not to sweat at all.

Thanks for the additional advice :)

Try a Technical top rather than the merino top ?

I don't see how lycra shorts could be sweatier than any other lycra.

I'm less sure about Merino as a top though.

All the pad is is foam. Antibacterial maybe but just foam. Merino is warmer, I wear it in winter but not spring/summer, it's too hot. Try unzipping your shirt or use a lighter shirt?
