Hub spacer to improve chainline on single speed

Just noticed that the chainline on my single speed is out. It's a Genesis Flyer which apparently needs a 103mm length BB spindle, however the one fitted is 108mm. It's surprising the difference it makes! Obviously I could just replace the BB, but I've actually got a spare one of the same length so it makes sense to try and make do and use existing resources. Has anyone ever successfully fitted a spacer between the hub and freewheel? I reckon I need a 2.5mm spacer which in theory should leave enough thread for the freewheel to screw on to. Many thanks.

You can use a spacer, but the spacer will limit the amount of thread the sprocket has to hold on to when tightened. It will probably work without issue, but personally I'd change the BB for the correct length...
