Options around £2.5k

Time for a new bike. Last bike 10yrs ago. Far too long!

Club rider but like a quite aggressive setup. Flexible on disk vs rim brakes... Pros and cons of both. Prefer new ultra groupset.

I like the Giant tcr Advanced...but would like something a but different...

Had been looking at deal on this https://winstanleysbikes.co.uk/orro-venturi-stc-8020-r400-2020-bike
...but dithered too long and deal now gone.

Any suggestions?

If you want to be different, don't buy an ugly lump of carbon. Get something timeless like a Tommasini Tecno built with a full Campy set-up. You can thank me in 10 years time, when people are still complimenting you on your impeccable taste.

What do you ride now ?
  • Thanks for reply.

Ribble nero rc, supposedly a dedacciai frame....tho pretty certain that the time Intook it to the dolomites was the first time it had seen Italy...
Always felt a little cramped in the cockpit..despite a 130 stem,...the geometry was tough to track down...but I found this https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/230869/
    I had the large size.

Hence the orro venturi made sense to me as their large had a smidge more reach. Not massively fussed by huge amounts of aero tech..tho that seems to be increasingly the norm....I am unlikely to race it....I just enjoy going for fast ish rides and want a modestly aggressive set up. The 'endurance' ranges of most brands look bloody awful to me!

I recently got a 2020 TCR advanced pro 2. I am very pleased with the bike, there's still a few available online of you look.....

    https://www.google.com/shopping/product/17950913571457199974?q=giant+tcr+advanced+pro+2+2020

It's 105, but does come with a lovely set of 42mm full carbon wheels. I'd take that over ultegra any day, considering the main difference between
105 and ultegra is pretty much asthetics.

Well, I went down the Colnago Master & Campagnolo route 12 years ago. Still perfectly happy and still getting compliments. Not within budget for a full set up these days (was well under at the time) but the theory is sound. 😉
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    What he said.

Hence why my most recent purchase is a Cinelli Nemo Tig.

Lovely choice. That was my target before deciding something custom.

I'll be honest, the OP's post confuses me. He wants something a bit different and shares a link to a bike that looks like everything else out there at the moment.

OP, think outside the box. A good starting point is not beng lured down the carbon fibre route - if you choose something aluminium or steel, you'll find something timeless in its design. Buy the frame and fork and build it up to your own spec... that's something a bit different.

    It'll be fine.
Two words of advice though. You want Ultra Torque crankset, not Power Torque.

  • How handy are you? Merlin have some cracking deals on some premium frames which you could build up with di2 under budget with a decent wheelset.
Built a mate up the Ridley helium with di2 for circa 1.7k (just don’t tell his mrs that was the real price 😂)
Seat post was cut down as well before anyone gets upset...
