Chain too short, can I add links?

Just changed the chain on my road bike.

When I go big chainring front big rear it jams.

Can I add more links in with the Shimano pins? It is a Shimano 9 speed chain

Yes you can. I'm sure you know it's best to avoid the big/big combo generally but I personally prefer that the chain is long enough to handle it as you sometimes end up selecting it by mistake, especially when you are tired.
