Advice for buying first road bike

I actually just bought a 2017 Liv Avail SL 1 Disc for a close out price two days ago, but I just saw Sun and Ski has a 2019 Cannondale Synapse 105 AL also on clearance, so was contemplating swapping them out. The main difference that I noticed between the two is the Liv uses a Shimano 5800 group set and the Cannondale uses the 7000 group set. Also, the Liv uses hydraulic disc brakes and the Cannondale uses mechanical disc brakes. I asked if the Liv has enough tire clearance for bigger tires, and they said it could go up to 30s. Which would be the better option?

I wouldn't get too hung up on the components as they're both fairly similar.

Just go for the one that fits you best and you like the look of more.

Either will be a decent bike for you.
