hi folks. im building a frame up and the rear mech cable exits the rear of the chainstay. There is a sleeve for the cable to go through but there is nothing stopping the outer cable from dissapearing into the frame or to butt up against.. am i missing something??

Yes. I would guess it's a small rubber stopper that fits into the frame and the cable outter goes into. That is what it is on all my internal routed frames.

The frame manufacturer will likely sell a replacement.

I have a frame where the outer cable feeds into the chainstay up to about half way along, which confused the hell out of me when I was first building it... Try feeding an outer cable into the chainstay and see if it stops somewhere.
  • As above or is the frame designed so a full outer can be used from the entry point on the down tube all the way to the rear mech?
