Hi,
A while ago I wanted to buy a SRAM/Quarq power meter and it was $1,200 so I thought I would wait a bit.
Now I'm ready but their website has changed and the options to order are different, and I get confused.
https://www.sram.com/en/quarq/models/pm-dz-spdr-d1
This seems like what I would need.
I have a BB30 (BMC TimeMachine TM01) and I use 130 Osymetric Chainrings (56/44)
Currently I have this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005540VQE
What confuses me is the format of that inner pattern where the crank arms are attached.
What is that format called? What crank arms can I buy to fit this? Only SRAM or is that a standard format?
I'm tempted to buy their crank arms but we don't even see them in photo (I want 175).
Also, do I have to pay attention to hidden-bolt VS non-hidden bolt? (mine is currently non-hidden)
Thanks!

Right I've had some fun with this of later on mine, I have the GXP Dzero except mine has a groove.
The holes on the PM are basically the way the spider bolts to the spindle like so
Not all SRAM cranks are compatible with this the one you linked is not as its a one piece crank arm to spider so your after a Rival, Force Red/eTap crank
bolt wise, pretty much explains itself, hidden bolt is one of the bolts hidden behind the crank arm (it actually bolts into the crankarm to improve strength), now technically you can make any hidden bolt crank a non hidden bolt by rotating the spider but in practice its a bit hit and miss especially if like me you PM has a grove the crank arm locates into like so
Noticed the PM you have linked is badged up for AXS so you would need an AXS crank arm to match it
Also if your fitting that to a BB30 setup you want a new DUB BB as well as it takes a 28.9 mm spindle not the 30mm you have now and wont fit the 24mm GXP's either (bonus it uses normal BB fitting tools)

Thanks a lot for the reply
So, if I look at this: https://www.sram.com/en/quarq/models/fc-qrq-assy-d1
Price is $196, and in the PM https://www.sram.com/en/quarq/models/pm-dz-spdr-d1 when I select "I already own this" on everything it's $399.
Now when I set a crank length (175) it's $595 which corresponds to the extra $196 of that crank. So I suppose that's the one.
Now, for the BB I'm still confused. If I select BB30 it adds an extra $38. What is it exactly?
When I assembled this bike, if I remember correctly I only bought:
- BB30 bearings
- BB30 retainer clips (to keep the bearings in place
And then the axle of the crank was going straight in there.
So what is that $38 thing that I need to select to make it BB30-compatible? Shouldn't the crank arms I select simply have that axle I just I to slide through my bearings?0 -
PS: actually, my current crank arm is not the one I linked earlier... it's the one I ordered though so they must have sent a different version.
It's actually this:
By looking at the inside, could the PM attach to this maybe so I don't even need to by the crank arms?0 -
Ah, the photos are too low resolution. Here it is:

Hi!
Because the newest power meter is designed to be compatible with the DUB crankset, it will require a DUB compatible Bottom Bracket. Here is a chart SRAM created to help find the DUB BB you need. https://www.sram.com/globalassets/document-hierarchy/compatibility-map/road/gen0000000005976-rev-b-compatibility-map-dub-choosing-a-road-bottom-bracket.pdf
Also, some Osymetric chainrings do not fit over the battery compartment on the power meter. If you send a picture of your chainrings to the Quarq customer support team (thinkfast@quarq.com) they can verify.
And you are correct with how you chose the crank arm within the Configure box on the website. They are the Quarq branded DUB crank arms compatible with the power meter you chose.

OK now with the images it makes more sense, Crank arms are fine so you could use your existing ones, basically watch this video it explains how to do it, also it will show you what your looking for on your crank
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbKIVY_bV0w
an the price change is to include a CUB bottom bracket basically, as otherwise it wont come with one0 -
Hmm, so all I need is the spider itself? The $399 thing?
step83: from 0 to 100% how sure are you about that? That I can just put that spider on my existing crank?
I'll try to remove the crank to take a better photo showing the inside in details, although it's a bit annoying lol0 -
You can't fit the Quarq to your existing cranks. Sram have used 2 standards for attaching spiders, 3 bolt and 8 bolt. The Quarq you've linked to uses the 8 bolt standard, while your cranks use the 3 bolt standard. To use the Quarq, you'd need new crank arms (and a new BB if you go to DUB). Alternatively, Power2Max make spider based PMs which will fit onto your cranks, like this one: https://www.power2max.com/en/product/ngeco-road-sram-power-meter/0

Ah I see, yes we do see the 3 bolts in my photo.
All right, so I have to select the form with options 175 and BB30 (total $633) and everything I need should be there? https://www.sram.com/en/quarq/models/pm-dz-spdr-d10 -
Ordered
I'll update when I receive to confirm everything is working (and show how cool it looks, for bike porn's sake)
Thanks again!0 -
Voila!
It's perfect. Thanks again everyone!
