I probably would just to avoid the temptation to jump the lights sometime, but others might have a different answer.

Find somewhere else to train more free of lights and junctions, or reduce interval lengths so they cannot be messed up by red lights.

Interval training is best done on a turbo or a quiet road.

    ^^^ This

It p1sses me off no end when I can't finish an interval because of lights, traffic or other things. Even though I have roads near me that are reasonably traffic free I still do almost all my short interval stuff on the turbo - longer intervals aren't so bad (2x2 or tempo blocks) because the average power over those is expected to fluctuate a bit more

I genuinely don't think it matters. Go as hard or as steady as you feel... save anything targeted for the turbo.

  • A friend of mine used to do this and more than once compromised his safety at lights because he was too busy watching "the numbers". Idiotic. Change your route, find a quiet industrial estate or save it for the turbo as suggested...
