Boardman MX Comp Rear Wheel
I’m struggling to find a replacement rear wheel for my MX Comp, as the current wheel is buckled. The bike shops near me are shut atm, so I’m hoping to get it online.
The tyre is showing 700 x 35C - 10 speed rear cassette and is quick release.
I’d also like to run it on a larger tyre, so any info, help and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Paul

The image below gives you an idea of what tyre sizes are acceptable on what rim widths.
If your existing tyre is a 35C then that indicates that the rim width is likely to be either 17,19 or 21C. Consequently you can probably run up to 52mm tyres if your rim is 17C or bigger if your rim is 19 or 21C. A lot will depend on whether your frame will take the larger tyres.
In terms of replacing your buckled wheel - you should be looking for a disc brake wheel with a freehub that will accept a 10-speed cassette. That means any wheel described for 11-speed will do the job but you may need a spacer (or spacers) to fit your 10 speed cassette. You also need to establish if your disc brakes are 6-bolt or centrelock fitting. Shimano wheels are likely to be centrelock as that is the standard they devised for disc mounting. Mavic and Fulcrum wheels will most likely be 6 bolt.
I've had a look on the Halfords website and cant see a description of the disc/wheel fitting type so you will have to sort that out. I'm guessing it will be 6-bolt as that is usually the most common type.

How buckled is it Paul ? If it's not too bad you can fix it in a few minutes with a spoke key.1

It’s quite buckled, I thought it best to go for a new wheel TBH in light of its condition.fenix said:How buckled is it Paul ? If it's not too bad you can fix it in a few minutes with a spoke key.

The Disc is secured by 6 bolts.arlowood said:

37 - 622 / 128 x 1.40 / 700 x 35C1 HS405 Is what is displayed on the tyre. The wheel is a standard MX comp wheel not sure of the rim width tbh.
There is approx 62mm space in the frame for a tyre though. The standard one which is on it, I feel is a bit thin for me and I’d like something more substantial. Seeing as the wheel is U/S I thought I’d take advantage of the opportunity.
Thanks

Would these fit my bike, as I’m not sure the difference between them?
Thanks

Either the first or third option would be fine. The first is based on a Novatec hub which has sealed bearings and as such requires little maintenance. The third option uses a Shimano Deore XT hub which has cup and cone bearings so will need cleaning and greasing every 6 months or so. Both have 19mm rims so will allow you to fit the bigger tyres you want. If you go for the first option make sure you select the 135 QR hub and the "Standard" freehub.allupstairs69 said:Would these fit my bike, as I’m not sure the difference between them?

Forget the middle option - it has a centrelock disc hub and will not be compatible with your set-up.0
