Converting a 12mm Mavic hub to 15mm....?

Not my day today!

I bought a set of Mavic AllRoad Elite wheels to use with my Norco Search 2017 Carbon. Norco's website https://www.norco.com/bike-archives/2017/search-c-ultegra/ says that the front hub on the stock wheels is a DT Swiss 350 12x100mm Thru-Axle 28h. So I ordered these Mavic wheels https://shop.mavic.com/en-int/allroad-elite-ust-disc-rr0974.html#1028=3283 which are supplied ready for 12mm axles.

After fitting tyres, sealant, discs and a cassette I discovered that my bike actually has a 15mm thru-axle, not the 12mm listed in the spec above! Yes - I know I should have checked before setting the wheels up, but it didn't occur to me that Norco's own website would be wrong...

Mavic's website says: "The wheels are compatible with Center Lock rotors. The front hub comes with a 12mm thru-axle and can convert to 15mm or quick release." and "Compatible Adapters and freewheel bodies: 15mm axle (Center lock: LV2252400, 6 Bolts: LV2252300) + 15mm fork rest (LB4104400)" which is a relief as it looks like all may not be lost...

So I think I need to find the LV2252400 adapter.

Does this look like the right part? https://www.bikingbarn.co.uk/Components/Axles/mavic-front-axle-V2252401 It's described as being for a Ksyrium/Cosmic wheel, but the code matches.

Has anyone here tried converting a Mavic wheel from 12mm to 15mm? Will I need any special tools to do this?

All thoughts / experience / advice welcomed! Thanks in advance.

All sorted. I rang Mavic customer care. The person who answered the call talked me through what is needed. He was knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent service - well done Mavic.
  • Can you post the information for the correct part for the conversion, I have exactly the same question (although I have a Norco Threshold, not a Search).

    Thanks
