Pike DPA air spring problems

I've had issues for a while with a pair of Pike RCT3 Dual position Air shocks, rebuilt them twice but still the same problem - once set on the lower length, the shocks will gradually extend to approx 90% of the full length again within about 5-10 minutes. as soon as they are compressed they return to the shorter extensions and start the process again.

Recently the problem has gotten worse - the bike has been stored away for about 18 months without use so brought out for a full service - on checking the pressure in the air spring there was nothing showing at all - but the shock was fully extended. I took the valve out so i could pull the inner shaft to add some bottomless tokens and still nothing came out. When i "burped" the forks a load of air cam out of the air spring side and they compressed fully. Fitted two bottomless tokens, cleaned and greased everything up and reinserted the shaft. inflated the forks upto approx 120 psi and it seemed ok. however the shocks don't feel right at all and the same problem is still happening.
This week i took the bike out for a shake down and the forks felt too hard. but when i put the shock pump on NO pressure showing again. after approx 5 pump the pressur went upto 150psi again - but upon disconnecting and reconnecting the pump again the pressure was gone - but the same process repeated. It looks like the air is getting stuck in the lower leg now but the whole thing is really frustrating now!

can anyone offer any ideas or help please?

Talk to TF Tuned? (1373 826800)

TFT are suspension specialists and service all types and makes. They are very helpful and friendly. I have rung them up and quizzed them on stuff and they have never asked if I was a customer or anything like that. Their view is that if they are helpful and leave you feeling happy, then you are more likely to use their paid services (which I have done several times).

After listening to your description of the fault, they may be able to say exactly what it is, such that you can easily fix it. They may say exactly what it is and that it is something complex and needs their type of assistance. They may have no clear idea of what is wrong and ask you to send it to them for a standard service. It will not hurt to ask. :)
