Freehub identity

Hi, I’m after some help identifying a freehub. It’s off a Mavic crossride hub. The current freehub is trashed so looking to replace it if possible. It’s got external spline, no id markings
but unusually has 9 splines and not 10.
Any help would be much appreciated.

What makes you think that it is not a Mavic freehub?

By the way, Mavic went into liquidation this month (or was it last month?), so you probably won't be able to get a replacement even if you can identify exactly which Mavic freehub it is.

Hi Steve, thanks for your reply. I’m open regarding the freehub it may well be Mavic. Thanks for the heads up regarding the liquidation. I guess unless I can can source one elsewhere I’ll have to ditch the wheel.
  • Liquidation doesn't necessarily mean that they have stopped business.

The liquidators will be wanting to realise as much as they can and this will be easier if the business is still operating.

A lot of businesses are owned by Private Equity Funds who will readily liquidate a business as a legal dodge.

Don't give up hope of finding a spare.

Thanks Darius, I’ve actually made a bit of headway in finding the serial no for the the freehub. It’s M40319 (HG) and it’s Mavics own. Looks like its a classics elite wheel.

I took a look at those links. They look right but unfortunately they have 10 teeth on the splines and mine only has 9. However I’ve emailed the company Novatec and I’m waiting to hear back from them. Thanks it may lead somewhere, here’s hoping.

Just because the hub is gone does not mean that the whole wheel is scrap. You need to compare prices and labour costs, but just fitting a different hub may do the job.

Hi, my local bike shop haven't been able to source a hub but I have found a part number and emailed Mavic. If this doesn't work then I'll just have to replace the hub. Thanks again for all your help. Guy

Hi, just taking up this post again. Is there a remote possibility that anyone has a Mavic M40319(HG) freehub they could sell me?

It looks like this and is the pre 2001 FTS system which Mavic no longer stock/make.
