HI,
Is it easier/better to bleed Avid Elixir brakes off the bike or all mounted up!

    All hydraulic brakes would be easier to bleed off the bike but leave the levers attached to handlebars level with the ground.

    You will be able to tap the hoses to dislodge trapped air bubbles better if you get calipers as low as you can and hoses as vertical as possible.

    That's the method I use on my Shimano brakes anyhow.

    This "How to bleed Avid Elixir brakes" from Epic Bleed Solutions should help. If in doubt contact them, they also provide bleed kits, extra fluid etc. Very helpful. I don't know for sure, but I suspect that they are a one man band. (And all the better for it). :)
