rear derailleur hanger extension

Hi all,

I've recently been trying to upgrade to a SRAM NX Eagle on a Norco charger, everything is fitted apart from the tab on the rear derailleur doesn't seem to be long enough to allow the b bolt tab to sit on it.

Does anyone know of anyway around this to extend it?

Thanks

Adam

Something's not right. Can you upload some pictures showing the problem?

  • The bottom photo just above my thumb are the tab and derailleur hanger. Whenever any pressure is put On the derailleur the black tab slips so it no longer sits on the hanger.

If you can buy the correct size hanger, then that's the ideal solution. The other would be to find a pal/workshop with a TIG welder to build the bottom edge of the hanger up(and bit of filing to shape) so the rear mech tab will locate correctly.

If by any chance you have the wrong mech hanger, when you find the correct one, buy two. Then you will always have a spare to carry in your pack.

Mech hangers are designed to fail ahead of the mech, so they are vulnerable anyway.

If the B-adjust washer is rotating past where it should catch, try a new derailleur hanger.
