    Just to conclude I spent about an hour polishing the area yesterday and I am pleased to say the “scratch” though deep has all but disappeared. Thanks for everyone’s input and help.

    TBH I was kind of ok until the dramatic bike shop guy said what he said. Now I can keep riding and stay sane.

    Glad you're more relaxed with it now.

    You know where the mark is and I guarantee you will pay close attention to it when cleaning your bike without even thinking about it, so if (and I'm sure it won't) anything more sinister does appear you can always contact the manufacturer again.

    So try to forget the scratch and just enjoy riding the bike :)
