Bike upgrade?

Hi All,
Just wanted to get people's thoughts. I currently have a Giant defy 5, so quite entry level alloy framed Road bike. I have been thinking of upgrading the group set to a Shimano 105 or possibly Ultegra. Do you think it would be worth spending the money on an upgrade or bite the bullet and go new bike?
Thanks
Shaun G.

It all depends on what you want to do with a bike and how deep your pockets are.0

Unless it's broken or worn out stick with what you have for now.
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of bargains regarding groupsets presently and as the supply chain slows down due to the effects of Covid-19 many of the new shiny bikes due into stock will be limited.
I never make large financial outlays on bikes or parts until the autumn as this is when the batgains can be found with unsold stock being sold off at far more realistic prices as the cycling trade enters the leaner months of the year and look to get cash in hand before winter arrives.
I think there will be a plethora of bargains later on in the year if you are willing to bide your time.0 -
You'll not notice any improvement unless your groupset is knackered.1
