Campagnolo/Shimano freehub query.

Hi, I have a Campagnolo Shamal Ultra wheelset, with a Campag 11spd freehub. They were salvaged from my insurance write-off bike. My new bike has a mechanical Shimano Dura Ace 11spd groupset.
I'd like to be able to use the Shamals with my new bike. Is there a cassette that I can put on the campag freehub that will run smoothly with the Shimano groupset?
Alternatively - would changing the freehub be a better solution? If so - could anyone recommend a suitable replacement?

Not sure if this is of any help but it would work the other way round.
I have a Shimano free hub on my turbo and the Campagnolo equipped bike works just fine. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Yes you can. Sprockets spacing is the same on Shimano and Campagnolo 11 speed cassettes so you should be able to use your Shamal wheelset/Campag 11-sped cassette with the Dura Ace drivetrain. You may need to tweak the indexing/limit settings to cater for any slight differences in wheel offset but hopefully you'll be fine.
I've heard some say that despite the compatibility claims the mixing never quite meets the standard of a full groupset. But - Hey Ho - you've got nothing to lose by giving it a try. If you're not happy then you'll need to fork out for a Shimano freehub for your Shamals0 -
Shamals have been around a long time through many iterations, but if they're relatively recent, this is the freehub you would need: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/campagnolo-freehub-axle/
It's worth trying with a Campag cassette first though if you have one.0 -
Ambrosio might offer a cassette with Campagnolo splines and Shimano spacing, as well, if the Camapagnolo cassette doesn't work perfectly.
I run an Ambrosio cassette on my turbo (Shimano spline, Campagnolo - 10sp - spacing). They're decent cassettes.Ben

I use a Shimano cassette on an 11 speed Campagnolo groupset without issue, so I guess it will work the other way around just as well.0

I still have the campagnolo cassette so I can try that first though I now have some clear back up plans thanks to all your helpful replies.
Many thanks.0
