Far too vague to be able to respond.vegas76 said:Does anyone else have serious fatigue post cycling? I'm finding I'm really tired after cycling... Have just started again after a 6 month break...
Yes, sometimes.
How far did you ride, how hard did you ride, how much have you ridden in the last few days, what's your base fitness like etc etcFat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

I'm currently doing 45km rides with about 650m of climbing in about 2 hours. I'm not particularly fit.cruff said:

When I say fatigue, I mean like 2-3 hours post cycle I am ready to sleep.0 -
When you are not riding do you feel fatigued?
There is so many factors into something like this. I can have rides where I go out and want to ride forever and feel great then other times do under an hour and can’t be bothered and feel tired.
This can be down to the previous days food intake, previous nights sleep. I think it’s natural to feel some sort of tiredness after being out or doing any kind of exercise

I'm trying to do 2 rides a week (with limited success, but 1 a week is working well).
I feel very tired the day I cycle and then also finding I'm not sleeping very well (elevated adrenaline levels?).
I'm not normally very tired, though I do have 2 kids under 6 so there's not a lot of sleep in the house. During the cycle I am having an energy drink (SiS drink in about 1-1.5 litres of water). I'm not a particularly fast rider but probably a bit unfit (though the stats and times are definitely improving).0 -
Sounds quite normal... you'll get fitter in timeleft the forum March 20230

This sounds good and normal to me. Due to my location and reluctance to venture too far from home most of my rides are around 40km, 1,000 m of ascent and 2 hours. I’m appreciating my progressive and substantial fitness gains having done very little cycling last year, Strava times on climbs coming down and FTP measured on my smart turbo improving. Your and mine local hilly loops are punishing, fatigue is to be expected and a good stimulus to fitness adaptation; my legs feel heavy after for a couple of days and I usually need 2 rest days to be sure of getting good times on my next ride. Sometimes it needs a couple of days for my resting heart rate to recover.vegas76 said:

My only slight concern is that I’m missing out on benefits of longer steadier base miles. I’m really looking forward to much longer rides with cafe stops post lockdown. I’m expecting my short intense sessions will have given a good kick start to these.
If you don’t already use one a Garmin or similar computer and heart rate monitor with a Strava account can be a massive help in motivation and tracking your fitness, recovery etc

I really don't know why this would be a surprise to you?vegas76 said:Does anyone else have serious fatigue post cycling? I'm finding I'm really tired after cycling... Have just started again after a 6 month break...

You say you have come back afer 6 months away from cycling. What have you been doing exercise wise during that 6 months and what were you like prior to your 6 month hiatus? Were you regularly smashing out 60km rides with 1000m of climbing in two hours? Or were you just not as tired as you are now after doing the same type of riding?
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Where about are you riding Kevin? Yes I am using Strava and a heart rate monitor... Very handy to be able to measure qualitatively.
Photonic - these are longer rides than I was doing, I need to keep adding the kilometres though. Luckily, there's a loop in Surrey Hills that's just 9km long but has a good 5-7% climb I can just repeat when I'm a bit fitter.0 -

Sometimes I'm completely drained after a ride, due to poor ride hydration/ ride fueling/ post-ride recovery food & drink and more recently weeks after having what was probably mild COVID-19 in late March.================

Well... Update after today's ride... I'm 10% faster than 4 weeks ago, and I'm knackered after todays ride, but not dead like I was 4 weeks ago.
Question for those in the know... When increasing the distance... How much distance do you normally add on? I know there's a 10% rule in running... Just wondering if something similar is advisable.0
