Hi, I have just joined and as probably many... I am looking for advices about a potential damage.

I was (again) playing with saddle height and I have noticed a bulge in the seat post, which is carbon. At naked eye I cannot see a crack, it just feel a bulge when you pass your finger on it... this how it looks like at the iPhone magnifier.
I always tighten is to 5 Nm...
Would you replace or it is just normal? Would you throw it away? Thank you in advance

  • Yup. Throw it away and then buy my excellent quality, and low priced, replacement.

Yeah I'd throw it away. Seat posts - even carbon ones - are cheap when compared to the cost of surgical repairs to your torn ar$e if it splinters on you out there somewhere...

I had one a bit like that. I used it for ages. When I sold the bike I pointed it out to the buyer and he is still using it. If you do decide it is scrap try destroying it with a hammer. You will be amazed how strong they are.
